High School Fishing World Finals & National Championship on Lake Cumberland

Big news for fishing enthusiasts and the Lake Cumberland area! Danielle Wilson, the Executive Director of Tourism at the Lake Cumberland Tourist Commission, recently revealed that Russell County will be the host of the 17th Annual High School Fishing World Finals & National Championship in 2026. This marks the first time this prestigious event will take place in Kentucky, and we're thrilled to welcome high school anglers from 48 states and two countries to our stunning waters.

Get ready for an impressive sight – over 450 boats will be competing on Lake Cumberland, making this the largest tournament ever held in our region. But it's not just about the competition; these talented young anglers will also have the opportunity to reel in over $3 million in scholarships. Talk about a life-changing catch!

The economic benefits of this event will ripple throughout Russell County and the surrounding communities. With an expected multi-million dollar impact, local businesses like hotels, restaurants, boutiques, and coffee shops are in for a real treat. We're anticipating over 4,000 spectators to join us during the week-long event, adding to the excitement and boosting our local economy.

Mark your calendars for June 23 and 27, 2026, because you won't want to miss this incredible display of skill, sportsmanship, and the beauty of Lake Cumberland. Stay tuned for more updates as we gear up for this fantastic event!
